4020 starting problems. My '64 4020, has issues with not turning over fast enough to start. Reasonably new starter, new batteries 550 cca, new cable clamps. Had a mech. look at it, and came down to ground strap corrosion. Installed new ground strap, (24v pos. ground system) connected right to diff bolt, after filing to clean metal.We have 9 3020-4020 tractors and they all act as you describe.We just live with it because after 1 minute all the hyd. work fine,part of farming with 40-50 year old tractors.I don't start in the mornings like I did 25 years ago either.LOL. May 30, 2009. #1. I have a 4020 that is not getting any fuel to the injectors. I have bled the system and transfer pump is pumping good up to the injector pump. But when I crack the injectors nothing. There is a 5/16 bolt on the outward side of the injector pump. If I loosen this bolt, it will run normally but shoots fuel out the hole.The super 4020 title was a very accurate on for them. 18.4x38 tires are probably the most common size for them.
