Question about animal pens and pen markers. So ive got a fenced in area for my donkey. I also have a walled area its attatched to that i set a stockpile for haygrass and kibble inside the walled area as well as animal sleeping spots. The real answer to to the question is to make kibble (Or grow hay for herbivores). It's cheap to make, can be stored forever and eaten by all animal types (Also by humans in an emergency). There's usually no time for making kibble for the first winter though depending on the climate.Pigs for converting human meat to regular meat, helps if you have a lot of raider corpses and little food. Wolves/Arctic Wolves are the best haulers in the game bar none. They produce basically no filth and eat very little. However I have been doing the math on this and it doesn't seem to add up. Kibble requires 1 Meat and 1 Veg worth of Nut to make 50 Kibble. It might be more beneficial to start with a large farm and stockpile hay then start growing hay inside the pen once you have enough to see if you’ll need to increase the size of the growing area. 5.If you put a growing zone in the pen animals will eat it before it's fully grown, so you'll never be able to harvest it.
